Physical Properties
The properties described so far are regarded as chemical properties, but the physical properties, especially for the charcoal industry, are no less important. And it is in the coal industry for the founding of iron which the physical properties are very important. The burden of a smelting furnace charcoal is the raw material more expensive. The physical properties of charcoal influence on the production of blast furnace, while the chemical properties are related more to the amount of coal needed for every ton of iron and composition of iron or steel end.

The charcoal for the blast furnace must be strong in compression, to withstand the crushing force of the burden of blast furnace, or "weight". This force to compression, always lower than the rival of charcoal, osea of metallurgical coke made from coal, determines the height practice, and hence the efficiency and production of blast furnace. The ability to resist splitting, in the handling, it is important to maintain a constant permeability of the burden of the impact of air furnace, which is vital to keep productivity and uniformity of operations of the oven.

We have developed several types of tests to measure the resistance to fracture; property is a fairly difficult to define in objective terms. These tests are based on measuring the strength of charcoal to breakage or splitting, making a sample is dropped from a certain height on a flat solid steel, or making a sample within a drum roll, to determine at the end of a certain time, the tamales smashed. The result is expressed by the percentages and go left, through various sizes of sieves. The charcoal, with little resistance to fracture, will produce a greater percentage of Char fine, subjecting the sample to test. The blast furnace is not desired Char fine, since it blocks the flow of air impact in the oven. The fragile charcoal can also be crushed by the weight of the load and produce blockades.
